Fractional General Counsel · Strategic Advisory · California

Counsel from a lawyer who has run the business, not just advised it.

I serve growing companies as their general counsel on a fractional basis and advise leadership teams and boards on governance, risk, and the decisions that shape the company, including what AI changes about how organizations run. The work is grounded in eight years in the in-house seat at a global manufacturer and eight years as an owner-operator in energy.

One lawyer who knows the whole business.

There is a point where a company's legal needs stop being occasional and start being continuous, and what it needs then is not another firm on call but one lawyer who knows the business and carries that knowledge forward. That is the core of my practice: contracts, compliance, governance, and risk handled with the continuity of a general counsel, without the cost of the full-time seat.

Around that core sits the counsel work that does not fit inside a contract review: advising leadership and boards on structure, accountability, and the decisions ahead, including what AI means for how the organization is built and who owns its decisions. Energy and manufacturing are my home ground, having served as in-house counsel to a global manufacturer and as an owner-operator in oil and gas, and the judgment travels across industries.

Formation and Structuring

For founders and owners starting or reorganizing a business: entity formation, governance documents, and the structural choices, tax implications included, that are far easier to get right at the start than to fix later.

For business owners and executives, I also handle estate and succession planning that protects what you have built. That work has its own home at Golden Estate Lawyer.

AA Anders Almgren, Attorney at Law

An operator's view, a lawyer's lens.

I have spent more than seventeen years advising businesses on contracts, compliance, and governance, including eight years as in-house counsel to a global manufacturer and eight years co-founding and running an energy venture. I have sat in the operator's chair and the general counsel's chair, and the work I do for clients is informed by having been responsible for the decisions, not just advising on them. I also read and review complex matters in English, Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish.
