About
Anders Almgren
Attorney at law, with an operator's view of the businesses he advises.
I have spent my career advising businesses as a lawyer and running one as an owner, so I have sat with the consequences of the decisions, not just the analysis of them. My practice is built on that, and the advice I give is the advice I would want if I were the one accountable for the outcome.
Today I serve growing companies as their general counsel on a fractional basis and advise leadership teams and boards on the decisions that shape the company, including what AI changes about how organizations run. Energy and manufacturing are my home ground, but the judgment travels across industries.
Clients hire me for judgment, and judgment is a product of what you have been responsible for. So instead of a career chronology, here is what I have actually been accountable for and what it means for the work I do now.
What I have been accountable for
Inside a global manufacturer, the legal function itself. For eight years I was in-house counsel to CTC Global, where I led legal strategy and international contract management, negotiated high-value licensing, development, and manufacturing agreements, implemented the contract lifecycle system that cut contract creation time in half, and directed compliance across U.S. and international regulatory frameworks. That is the work a general counsel function is made of, and it is why I can build one for your company without learning the job on your time.
Inside my own company, everything. I co-founded and ran an oil and gas venture for eight years as an owner and officer, negotiating its purchase and sale agreements, leases, and contractor agreements and responsible for its legal, regulatory, and environmental compliance, while also being responsible for whether the business made money. When I advise operators, I am giving the answer I would have wanted in that seat: what to do, what it costs, and what happens if we are wrong, rather than a memo that lists the risks and leaves the decision to you.
And across eighteen years as an attorney, the range: contracts, compliance, governance, and entity structure for founders, family-owned businesses, and energy companies. I completed Harvard Law School Executive Education's program on Leadership in Corporate Counsel, and I read and review complex matters in English, Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish.
I also write about AI governance at attorneyderso.substack.com, and you can find me on LinkedIn.
